1. Bird and Butterfly

As a protected environment, the Estate is home to a wide variety of birdlife and magnificent butterflies. Visit South Africa’s first Aerial Boardwalk – within the enchanting Dlinza Forest. Experience the unique forest and its rich birdlife from a completely different angle as your trained guide points out some of the 65 species that inhabit this area.



2. Forest Walks

Enjoy the splendour of this sub-tropical forest with a brisk walk or a leisurely stroll. You may encounter a shy antelope along the way.

3. Thompson Bay Rock Pool

Thomson’s Bay Tidal Pool is a very large pool with an array of marine life to observe. It is approximately 90 meters long which makes it popular with the exercising crowd. Lifesavers are on duty at the tidal pool and ablution facilities are available for bathers as well as outside showers.


The beach next to the Thomson’s Bay Tidal Pool has a good swimming beach. The beach is protected with shark nets and the same lifeguards that service the tidal pool keeps an eye on the beach.


This tidal pool is worth visiting if you are looking for things to do in Ballito.



4. Willard Beach

Willard Beach is the main attraction for visitors to Ballito. Part of the Dolphin Coast’s magnificent stretch of golden beaches and sheltered coves, Willard Beach is perfect for a day of fun in the sun.


From swimming beaches that are protected by shark nets and attended daily by professional lifesavers, to popular surfing spots and tidal pools, the Dolphin Coast has it all.



5. The Official Luthuli Museum

The Luthuli Museum is a national cultural institution charged with conserving, upholding, promoting and propagating the life, values, philosophies and legacy of the late Chief Albert Luthuli.



6. Crocodile Creek

Visit Crocodile Creek on the North Coast near Ballito and join in the adventure, learn about the fascinating Nile Crocodile, Alligators and other crocodiles. Crocodile Creek is a fantastic day outdoors for the entire family.



7. The Litchi Orchard

Not only is The Litchi Orchard a functioning litchi farm, but it is a green haven of good food, décor, design, craft and unique retail offerings. Over the years, it has become a meeting point for the North Coast community as well as a unique experience for visitors.

MonkeylandKZN is a free-roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary near Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. It’s mission is to educate and foster greater understanding of our primate cousins and the threats and challenges they are facing.
